Herons Glen Ladies 18 Hole Golf League
A league that gives women members of the Herons Glen golf course an opportunity to meet other lady golfers and play competitive golf on Wednesday mornings. The games may be individual or team format, all woman must have a 40.1 Handicap Index to join. The league is a 501C organization which raises funds for several local charities.

Most tournaments are maintained in Golf Genius the 2025-2026 league password is KKJ2UN. You can go to www.golfgenius.com on your computer (signin with the league GGID) or download golf genius to your phone. All members are encouraged to download the app and help score each Wednesday. Each group should have a designated Golf Genius "poster" each week as it eliminates work in the pro shop.
Golfing News
2026-2027 League Dues can now be paid in the pro shop. Checks for $30 should be paid to the HGLGA-18. The league will start October 7 and your dues should be paid before your first event. The welcome back scramble is scheduled for October 14 and will be followed by a luncheon. For those who arrive in the Glen later, you can pay your dues when you arrive. If you are changing tees please inform Mike prior to signing up for a Wednesday tournament. For those wishing to play the 6 tees your age + index must equal 100. Once you qualify, you are qualified for the season.
The new schedule is now posted. Remember to be courteous to your playing partners and be ready to play. Your place on the course is behind the group in front of you and you should never lose "touch" with that group.
Tips for faster play:

park between your shot and your cart mates, when safe get your yardage while someone else is hitting, be ready when its your turn.

read your putt while others are putting, be ready when its your turn if someone is waiting on someone to mark then let someone else putt, continuous putt whenever possible to speed up play, NEVER mark a short putt just finish it.

if someone is raking, walking, or otherwise busy and you are ready - then hit!

if your score isn't going to count towards a team score pick up and put down the score you most likely would have made (note on the paper card put a x after the score so Mike knows it was not a real score for a blind draw pull i.e. 7x). Remember we have a league max of 10 strokes on a hole, stop at 10!

If you are the last one to your cart do not put your clubs away until the next tee box --- this saves time where the group behind you can hit up quicker!

Do not sit at the green and record scores, have the passenger score while riding or score on the next tee

Anyone can tee off first there is no order!

On cart path only holes take the club you need and one on either side. If someone has gone out to the fairway they can shoot distances for others
Sins of slow play:

the chatterbox -- the player who wants to tell stories and is never ready and/or keeps others from being able to play. Remind them that golf etiquette is to be quiet while others hit the ball, you'll all be eating lunch together stories can be told then.

Indecisiveness - the person who keeps changing their club or can't make up their mind on a club -- strive for 20 seconds from club choice to hitting the ball (USGA suggested time)

Multiple practice swings - compounded when the previous shot went 10 yards.

dying over the ball - we've all wondered what the person in front of us is doing for 30 seconds or more over the ball...(from Golf Digest) pros agree the time from when golfers set their lead foot, step over the ball and swing to the finish should take eight seconds, but that for most of us it takes double that time. That’s an extra 12 minutes for the someone shooting 90.
5. Overcomplicated Routine: the person who stands behind to line up, takes a practice swing then goes back behind the ball to line up again or spends 30 seconds perfectly lining up their golf ball to putt- stands up and tweeks it again!
