Ladies Day

  • Shotgun starts each Wednesday at 8:15 a.m.

  • Four dollars ($4) prize money is charged to your account when you check in at the Pro Shop on Wednesday morning. Prizes awarded are Pro Shop credits (credits do not expire at the end of the season).

  • Weekly games are posted outside the Pro Shop, on the HGLGA website, and on the HGRD website in the Pro Shop section.

  • Deadline for sign up through Chelsea is Saturday – 1 p.m. Contact the Pro Shop for late sign-up.

  • Pairings are done by the Chelsea system (unless otherwise noted on the schedule) and are on Chelsea.

  • The HGLGA-18 has limited the maximum strokes on a single hole to ten.   At any time when a player reaches ten strokes they shall record a ten and pick up.  The only exception is President's Cup when it may be announced that you have to complete every stroke.

  • The HGLGA-18  has capped the allowable handicap to 36 strokes during any HGLGA-18 event.

Birdies, Chip-ins, and Eagles

The HGLGA-18 supports local charities for women through our birdie program. Ladies playing in league events are encouraged to report each eagle, birdie, and chip-in achieved during play by filling out a card at the birdhouse in the Pro Shop. After the first birdie or eagle reported, earned monies ($1 each) will be donated to After the Rain, a halfway house to assist women in recovery from addiction, homelessness, and/or domestic violence. If a member would like to decline donating their monies for this charitable cause, her name can be removed from the donor’s list. The first birdie, eagle, and chip-in is awarded with a pin or a ball marker and the number of each are totaled for recognition at the end of the season.

  • Any birdies, chips-ins and eagles made during League play should be recorded and placed in the birdhouse in the Pro Shop.

  • If the League play is a type of scramble event, then you must have used all your shots on the hole to get credit for a birdie, chip-in, or eagle.

  • Eagles made outside of league play can be recorded at any time.

Lunch Meetings & Tournaments

  • It is assumed that all golfers will be attending lunch, if you plan on not attending lunch you must notify the vice-president by Sunday evening prior to golf.

  • Cost will be charged to you house account.

  • Guests are not allowed to play on Ladies Day, but may attend the lunch meetings.

Equitable Stroke Control (ESC)

All scores are subject to the application of ESC.  It is a method of adjusting your score so that an exceptionally bad round does not affect your handicap index to the same degree than an unadjusted score would. Adjusting your score using ESC ensures that your handicap more accurately reflects your playing ability. This mandatory procedure sets a maximum score that a player can take on any given hole. There is no limit to the number of holes on which you can adjust your score.

  • Your maximum hole score is double bogey plus the number of handicap strokes you receive for the hole.

Memorials

A $50 donation will be made to the charity of choice for the loss of a member. A $25 donation will be made to the charity of choice for the loss of a member’s spouse or significant other. Cards for other occasions (e.g., serious illness, death of a family member, congratulations, etc.) will be sent by the Sunshine Secretary as deemed appropriate.

Hole-In-One

  • A cash prize of $50 is awarded when a member shoots a hole-in-one on the Herons Glen golf course; the award is $100 if the shot is made during league play on Wednesday. The HGRD will give a cart plaque to each member getting a hole-in-one. A Hole-In-One pin will be presented at the April Awards Luncheon.

Handicaps / Score Posting

  • The purpose of the USGA Handicap System is to make the game of golf more enjoyable by enabling players of differing abilities to compete on an equitable basis. Fair handicapping depends upon full and accurate information regarding a player’s potential ability as reflected by a complete scoring record. Every player is responsible for entering their scores into the GHIN system. Any time 7 or more holes are played the player must post the score.  If   If 7-18 holes are completed enter the score hole by hole for the number of holes played.

  • The Pro Shop will enter scores into GHIN from the Wednesday league play.

  • The Handicap Committee will review the scoring records of all current members.  Members posting less than 60% of their score will receive a letter asking them to explain the discrepancy. If there is no response, or if the explanation is unsatisfactory, the Board may decide to apply sanctions approved by the USGA and the HG Club Professional
